I want to commend you, Pieter, for hosting a radio show that is a bold forum for the cause of immigration reform. I hope you will continue to keep the issue alive – especially in the coming months.
During the campaign, president-elect Obama promised to initiate legislation for comprehensive immigration reform in the first 100 days of his administration. Like most presidents, Mr. Obama will come into office with considerable political capital during the proverbial “honeymoon” period with congress and the media. However, the economy has already become Mr. Obama’s primary public focus.
No sensible person would argue the economy is not a vital issue. But if those of us committed to immigration reform sit idly and let our new president expend his political capital exclusively on the economy, what will he have left for immigration reform?
We need to hold Mr. Obama to his pledge. Otherwise, immigration reform will once again languish on the back burner. It will take a considerable political effort to overcome the hyperactive nativist fringe who vehemently oppose immigration reform. A president weakened in the polls and beholden to many in congress will not be able to push the legislation past the amnesty chorus.
Please keep up your excellent work.

Hola, my website is under temporary construction but you can still listen to the program live at 5:00PM PDT by clicking on "Ayuda con reforma migratoria" and then clicking on Escucha En Vivo Aqui. New Pew Hispanic Center study shows increased Latino perception of governmental discrimination. Tune in for Arana interview with Pew sometime next week..Saludos, Arana

To all my new friends at NSHP, please help get out the Hispanic vote. It is the only way that we can reform the immigration law to be comprehensible and fair. Congressional members are by far the most important candidates to study. These members hold the key to changing the immigration law. Encourage everyone you know to vote! Gracias. Go to my website for more info and listen live to the program. www.elarana.com
